Patient Centered Obstetric and Gynecologic Care

All of our providers at Westar OB/GYN pride themselves in taking the time to get to know you, your family, and the health and wellness services needed for a long and healthy life span. Our nurse practitioners pride themselves in the most up-to-date education and screenings available.

Our physicians entrust Mount Carmel St. Ann’s Hospital for the delivery of your baby and major and minor surgical procedures.

We can also treat patients for outpatient services and minor procedures at the Ohio Health Polaris Surgery Center.

Dr. Alan Murnane, MD

Dr. Alan Murnane is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Murnane did his undergraduate studies at The Ohio State University and graduated summa cum laude. Dr. Murnane earned his doctorate in medicine at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and did his residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati. Dr. Murnane serves as the volunteer Medical Director for Pregnancy Decision Health Centers (PDHC) and as a leader for the Mt. Carmel St. Ann’s Medical Staff. Dr. Murnane is a highly experienced surgeon, with special interest in minimally-invasive vaginal surgery approaches. He is a supporter of Vaginal Birth after Cesarean (VBAC).

 

Murnane lives in Westerville with his wife and four children. He is happy to be able to ride his bicycle to work. Dr. Murnane enjoys gardening, cooking, skiing, and traveling with his family.

Dr. Alicia Thompson, DO

Dr. Alicia Thompson earned her medical degree at Nova Southeastern University in Florida. She completed her OB/GYN residency in Dayton, Ohio. Dr. Thompson served in the Air Force from 2006 to 2013.

Dr. Thompson has five young children, and her husband is a physician specializing in Radiation Oncology.

Dr. Thompson has a particular interest in natural family planning, and she sees patients in the office on Fridays.

Katherine Elliot, CNP

Katherine Elliot is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She graduated from Mount Carmel College of Nursing magna cum laude with her bachelor’s and her master’s from the Otterbein University.  Katherine joined Westar OB/GYN in October 2005.  She is passionate about health and wellness education, including new OB teaching, exercise and disease prevention recommendations. Katherine also is very involved in the genetic aspect of fetal genetics and heredity cancer screening. She enjoys educating about cancer prevention and providing the appropriate management for elevated cancer risks using Natera labs along with other testing that uses cell free DNA to detect tumor mutations.  Katherine manages anxiety and depression along with postpartum depression in office and via telehealth using techniques of supplements, exercise, counseling and medication therapy.

 

When Katie is not working, she enjoys volunteering at the St. John Neumann church in Sunbury, Big Walnut Local Schools, gardening and running. She enjoys watching her daughter and son play soccer for the Big Walnut High school along with their club teams.   Katie has been active in the Relay for Life for more than ten years in Sunbury and the local towns.

Michelle Tiberio, CNM

Michelle Tiberio is a certified nurse midwife who grew up in Westerville, Ohio. Michelle completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Mt. Carmel College of Nursing.  Michelle went on to graduate from the University of Cincinnati where she received a Master of Science degree in Nurse Midwifery. Before practicing as a midwife, Michelle worked in the ICU for 15 years and labor & delivery for 6 years at St. Ann’s Hospital.

Michelle specializes in preventative women’s health, preconception counseling, contraceptive management, and family planning. In addition, she is also certified in electronic fetal monitoring, neonatal resuscitation, and advanced cardiovascular life support.

Michelle currently lives in Lewis Center, Ohio with her husband, Dominic. She has four children, two boys and two girls and a lab mix named Bailey. In her free time Michelle enjoys traveling, spending time with friends and family, and spa days.

Katherine Bellomy, CNM

Kathy graduated from nursing school in 2000 and began her nursing career in labor and delivery. Kathy enjoyed caring for laboring women for 15 years. Aspiring to care for women throughout their lifespan, Kathy became a board-certified Certified Nurse Midwife graduating from Frontier Nursing University in 2015. Since then, she has practiced on Oahu, Hawaii in a diverse population setting. Kathy became the first CNM with delivering privileges at Queen’s Medical Center on Oahu and collaborated to successfully bridge CNM and doula care for women desiring those services. She holds certifications in electronic fetal monitoring and neonatal resuscitation. She enjoys the continuity of care in women’s healthcare across the lifespan.

Kathy returned home to Ohio in 2020 after living in Hawaii for 6 years to be closer to family. Kathy and her husband have 5 children. She enjoys fitness, puzzles, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.

Our Care Team

Westar OB/GYN offices are staffed with professionals who all play an integral role in your health care.

Receptionists

Our receptionists ensure your appointment is scheduled appropriately, your insurance information is collected accurately, and that your appointment begins and ends with a warm smile.

Medical Assistants

Our medical assistants are highly trained to confidentially collect your healthcare information and help organize it for your provider. The medical assistants are available to serve as chaperones during your appointment at your request.

Registered Nurses

Our registered nurses have years of experience in OB/GYN and are available to answer your telephone calls and emails (via our Patient Portal). Our nurses work with all the physicians and nurse practitioners to implement your health care plan.

Ultrasonographers

We have certified medical ultrasonographers to perform ultrasound scans both obstetrical and gynecological. Your physician interprets the images obtained from our state-of-the-art ultrasound machines.

Phelobotomist

We have an experienced LabCorp phlebotomist for in-office lab draws. If you need your lab work to be sent to a lab other than LabCorp, let the phlebotomist or medical assistant know, and we will send it to the lab of your choice.

Procedure Scheduler

We have a designated staff member to personally work with you to schedule your hospital or in-office surgical procedure.

Certified Nurse Practitioners

We have Certified Nurse Practitioners who focus on health and wellness education. Our nurse practitioners work with the physicians to create an integrated health care team for you. Our nurse practitioners are able to perform health exams and to prescribe medications for many common conditions. Our physicians are always available to provide consultations for our Certified Nurse Practitioners.
